CPMS project manage major civil engineering needed to upgrade Gospel Oak to Barking route

A key challenge is to create the extra space needed to install electrification equipment. This requires lowering four major stretches of track, replacement of four bridges and the modernisation of further six. Due to the nature of the work and the need to rebuild large sections of the railway the project is being completed during a phased eight-month closure. To make the most of this rare opportunity as much work as possible is being planned to take place. which creates it's own challenges. How to co-ordinate various teams working in parallel? The answer was to adopt 4D planning (3D + time) to animate plans and identify work package clashes – a first for a project of this scale within the rail industry.
