Electrification of the last London Overground route required extensive civil engineering and construction to create space for masts and wire, to power the new electric trains.

We worked in partnership with contactors to lower five sections of track, replace four bridges and modernise a further six. The longest track lowering site ran for over 1,700 metres through the heart of Walthamstow and included lowering the whole of Walthamstow Queens Road station including platforms, ramps and stairs by up to half a metre.

This video demonstrates the scale and complexity involved in track lowering across the route.
