South Grove Rail Interface Management

Context
The development of South Grove, a new urban quarter near Walthamstow, North London was presenting a delay, CPMS was commissioned to resolve this.

Project
Due to the proximity of the site to the railway, a number of critical packages required approval from Network Rail (design and construction phase) and some aspects of the works to be undertaken within possessions.

Method
CPMS managed the design and asset protection interface with Network Rail; negotiated and delivered support of Basic Asset Protection Agreement; design assurance of rail interface packages; reviewed, commented and
approved Risk Assessments & Method Statements and high risk Work Package Plans; coordinated and delivered possession dependent works, including track/embankment monitoring and de-vegetation.

Services provided
Effective collaboration, communication and coordination of teams | Project and Programme Management | Avoided abortive costs | Secured critical possession access

“The CPMS team brought valuable rail industry knowledge and expertise to manage the rail aspects of the residential development at South Grove. A huge amount of project risk was associated with the rail interface of the scheme, and for a proportionately tiny fee, CPMS took ownership of these risks and helped deliver the relevant approvals required from the Network Rail asset protection team in line with the project programme. The Client team at L&Q recognised the value of involving the CPMS team and we have continued to work together on multiple other schemes since, adopting lessons learned as we progress from project to project.” – Brett Chatwin, Regional Manager, Wales & Western, CPMS Group
