Meet Ed, part of the CPMS team working on the Meridian Water Regeneration Scheme
6 February 2020
Value of Regeneration
Regeneration projects are vital in London, there is a huge housing shortage and we simply cannot keep up with the demanding growth of our capital. The Government recognise this and have set out targets for all the London Boroughs to achieve approximately 49,000 homes a year between 2015-2036 and 62,000 between 2015-2026 to help with the current backlog.
Securing HIF and the Benefits of Doing So
To achieve anywhere near the demand, these projects rely heavily on improvements to the local infrastructure and the Housing Infrastructure Fund (HIF) has been made available to support this and creates a fantastic opportunity for the boroughs to prepare potential areas making them viable and attractive to develop on. This includes things like bridges, cycle routes, bus routes and rail capacity improvements.
How does CPMS support regen?
This is where CPMS have been proud to be an important cog in the machine for our client the London Borough of Enfield. We have provided them with the expertise and knowledge to lead their rail project in Meridian Water through feasibility design works and producing the strategic business case which secured them funding to make the improvements needed to enable their regeneration programme to provide in excess of 10,000 new homes and with that 6,000 new jobs!
